Though he had promised his wife a warm thermal spring experience, the water temperature was only 26\u00b0C. Despite the conditions, Audy\u2019s curiosity was piqued.<br><br>\u201cWith scorpions, spiders, heat, and an overwhelming stench, I wouldn\u2019t exactly call it a romantic cave,\u201d Audy said. \u201cBut I was already reaching for my notebook.\u201d<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-albania-s-hidden-geological-treasures\"><strong>Albania\u2019s hidden geological treasures<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Albania, long isolated during the communist era under dictator Enver Hoxha, has remained largely unexplored, leaving many of its natural wonders undiscovered. However, at the end of 2024, the team spotted something remarkable\u2014drone footage revealed a plume of steam rising from an uncharted location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the lead, the team discovered the vast underground cavern they would later name Atmos Cave, the largest known underground thermal lake on Earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Audy later told National Geographic: &#8220;When we first got into that cave and saw the lake, we were amazed.
